There has been a recent police report made to the Niles Police Department regarding a Craig’s List ad for a rental property. The property being marketed as a rental is actually a vacant home for sale by one of our REALTOR® members.
This member received four calls from members of the public, who all called the ad for the rental, and became suspicious when they weren’t getting answers to their questions and were being urged to submit the application fee, pet fee and first month’s rent before signing the lease. They all started researching further, thus finding the REALTOR®.
PLEASE remember to watch this application for the possibility of your listings showing up marketed by anyone besides you – particularly if the property is vacant. In this particular instance the REALTOR® alerted the owner of the property who promptly took action with Craig’s list and the listing is no longer on the site.
